A workshop was held on school aged children and the long lasting impact of depression and anxiety. Bryan Jeffery a psychiatric nurse with extensive experience in child and adolescent mental health issues explained to nurses the MOAT (Mental Health Outreach & Therapy) program.
Gillian Nikakis then lead the School Nurses through her experience of using art as a therapy. Gillian works with adults who have experienced trauma, particularly in the area of childhood physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Art has proved to Gillian as being a very powerful healing tool in the client's therapy.
The Day culminated in cocktails and a viewing of the exhibition "The Art of Making Sense" The Cunningham Dax Collection consists of over 12,00 creative works by people who have experienced mental illness or psychological trauma.
