Traditionally a first aid and sick bay role, school nurses are now utilised in School Health Centres in health promotion, policy formation, student and staff education, counselling as well as the first aid role. School nurses are employed across a variety of schools included Department of Education & Early Childhood Development, Catholic and Independent Schools in a variety of roles.
To go with our new name we needed a new Logo and what better people to consult was our students and members. A competition was held to find a new logo that better reflected the modern school nurse. Pictured is Ben Plant an 18 year old student who designed the winning Logo receiving his $500 winnings prize from Gina Harrex the President of the Victorian School Nurses
