Nurses are consistently viewed
as one of the most trusted professions because they provide expert
care to people during many of the most intimate and significant moments in
their lives.
International Nurses Day is held on the
anniversary of the birth date of the
world's most famous nurse, Florence Nightingale. It is a day when nurses can
reflect on how special it is to be a nurse, and a day when the community can reflect on the benefits
nurses bring to Victoria's health and welfare.
It also gives the community an opportunity to
thank the nurses or midwives involved in their recent care or the care of a
family member or friend.
This year in particular, ANF (Vic Branch)
reflects on our members' efforts to protect the health of all Victorians through
our fight to save and maintain nurse/midwife patient ratios.
For over 9 months
nurses and midwives protected every Victorian's right to safe and quality care
in our public health system. The community recognised this and stood by
Victoria's nurses and midwives.
This 2012 International Nurses Day ANF (Vic
Branch) thanks all nurses and midwives and the community for their efforts and
support.
The 2012 ANF (Victorian Branch)
International Midwives Day and International Nurses Day poster celebrating
nurses and midwives has been sent out to all workplaces.
