Applications open for Federal Government undergraduate aged care nursing scholarhips

Applications have opened for up to 395 undergraduate aged care nursing scholarships worth up to $30,000 each as part of the Gillard Government’s commitment to boost training for aged care workers. Applications close 10 September 2010.

The scholarships are only available for courses leading to a qualification to practice as a Registered Nurse. Up to 10 of these scholarships are designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants.

In order to be considered for the scholarship you must be:

  • currently enrolled or intending to enrol in an undergraduate, accredited, pre-registration (entry to practice) nursing course at an Australian university
    OR
  • currently enrolled or intending to enrol in a graduate entry, accredited, pre-registration (entry to practice) nursing course at an Australian university
    OR
  • currently enrolled or intending to enrol in the Masters of Nursing Program at an Australian University, leading to first-time registration as a Registered Nurse.

A demonstrated commitment to aged care will be highly regarded, particularly from regional, rural and remote areas.  Applicants living in metropolitan areas with an aged care background are also encouraged to apply.
