Under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, health and safety representatives are entitled to attend an approved five day course.
ANF courses are specifically designed to cater for health and safety representatives working in the health sector, with a strong focus on issues and hazards relevant to nursing.
Under OH&S legislation and guidelines, employers must not obstruct or prevent health and safety representatives from attending an approved course of their choice.
The OHS Act 2004 states that employers are required to be provided with 14 days notice of attendance of an OHS course of training. Therefore, all course registrations are to be received at a minimum of 14 working days prior to the course commencement date.
Health and safety representatives who are members of the ANF are urged to attend the ANF approved course as it relates specifically to your area of work and will provide the most relevant and up-to-date information for your industry.
All public sector nurses are entitled to two days paid conference/study leave per year. In addition full-time public sector nurses are entitled to three days professional development leave.
