ANF's practical training program focus on understanding employee and employer rights and responsibilities under the legislation and provide successful systems to identify, remove, prevent and manage hazards in the workplace.
The OHS program includes:
• five-day introductory courses for ANF OH&S representative
• a two-day short course for OH&S committee members and those interested in OH&S
• a one-day seminar series on OH&S hazards specific to nursing, including violence and agression and bullying and harassment in the workplace.
Five-day introductory course for ANF Occupational Health and Safety Representatives
This course relates specifically to the health industry and nursing and is designed to equip ANF members, who are elected OH&S reps, with an understanding of the OH&S legislative framework. It is also designed to provide participants with the skills required to implement effective hazard control strategies in the workplace. This course is approved by the Victorian WorkCover Authority.
Introduction to occupational health and safety (one-day short course)
This short course is designed specifically to suit the needs of Nurse Unit Managers, OH&S committee members, supervisors, team leaders, Job Reps and any other interested persons who would benefit from an introduction to health and safety at work. The course provides a general overview and understanding of:
• the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004
• the legal responsibilities of employers and employees
• the role of the supervisor
• the role of OH&S representatives, committees and inspectors
• the role of the inspectorate
• the systems approach to health and safety
• the application of relevant regulations, codes of practice and guidance notes.
