This campaign is closed. This section provides background information about the 2007 Victorian public sector nurses and midwives enterprise bargaining campaign for the public acute and aged care sector, public psychiatric services, the Australian Red Cross Blood Service and the Royal District Nursing Service.
This year's public sector campaign will focus on improved workloads and skill mix and a minimum 18 per cent wage increase to address the wage disparity between Victorian nurses and nurses working in New South Wales and Queensland.
Four separate claims have been served on employers and sent to ANF Job Reps for distribution in the workplace. These claims are on behalf of members employed in the public acute and aged care sectors, public psychiatric services, the Australian Red Cross Blood Bank and the Royal District Nursing Service.
The 2007 claim offers the Victorian Government a strategy for the future and will ensure it can meet its 2006 election promise to treat an additional 623,000 patients by 2010. The rest of the world is still in the grip of a global nurse shortage. Victoria is not, thanks to initiatives that Victorian nurses fought for in 2000, 2001 and 2004. It is up to all nurses to support these claims together to continue to increase the Victorian nursing workforce and to keep the wonderful nurses we have in the workforce.
