Public Sector EBA Update No 19

7 February 2008, 9:16am

Wage Increases and Back Pay

As reported in EBA Update 18, three matters needed to be resolved before the new agreement could be implemented, and back pay processed, these were:

The process to ensure that hospitals that receive EFT to address the 50 per cent rule on AM and PM shifts are not able to misuse it, and

The wording of the clause that requires employers to abide by the EBA ratios, and

The allocation of the 200 EFT (minimum) to post and ante natal wards and emergency departments.

AIRC Proceedings - 4 February 2008

ANF is pleased to inform members that with the assistance of the AIRC the first two items above have been resolved.

This leaves item 3 above, the allocation of the 200 EFT.

Meeting with Minister Andrews - 5 February 2008

ANF met with Minister Andrews and senior DHS officials on 5 February 2008 to resolve the allocation of the 200 EFT.

The allocation of the 200 EFT directly affects the groupings of emergency departments for ratio purposes. ANF is aware of the strength of feeling amongst our membership in these departments.

While no agreement was reached, the Minister now has a clear understanding of ANF's position regarding how this EFT can be best allocated and the parties have agreed to meet again next week to try and finalise the allocation.
