Campaign update no 17

17 December 2007, 3:05pm

Information about finalising a public sector Deed and payment of new wages and back pay.

Wage increases and back pay

The drafting of the 2007 EBA for the purposes of receiving the new pay rates and associated backpay (from first pay on or after 1 October 2007) is nearing completion. Matters remaining outstanding are as follows:

1. Inclusion of an organisational change agreement.

2. Allocation of nurses and midwives for the new and improved ratios in emergency departmentss (particularly Level 1) and ante and post natal units/wards.

3. An appropriate clause that ensures that hospitals/wards not currently abusing the 50 per cent rule on the am/pm shift do not do so after the allocation of the 300 EFT. Importantly, the Victorian Health Minister, Daniel Andrews, agrees that the new 300 EFT are to fix the 50 per cent rule problem not create a new problem in a ward/unit not currently abusing the 50 per cent rule.

ANF and the Government are working to ensure that the Deed can be signed by 11 January 2008.
