Ramsay Health Care and ANF EBA Negotiations

24 July 2012, 2:37pm

ANF reconvened EBA negotiations with Ramsay Health Care (RHC) on Friday 13th July. The central issues discussed at this meeting included a review of Ramsay Health's draft template EBA provisions.

The template is intended to be used by both parties to establish a base framework of incorporated current award and current EBA provisions. In short, this is designed to simplify the process of aligning all current award conditions and EBA conditions into a single document, and is not intended to result in a reduction of existing conditions.  ANF has provided RHC with a comprehensive response to the draft template, and the parties discussed these issues at the meeting on 13th July.

The current EBA was written under the Fair Work former Workplace Relations Act 1996, and it resulted in a fragmented approach to reading the EBA in conjunction with the Nurses (Victorian Health Services Award) 2000.   Under the current Fair Work Act 2009, we have an opportunity to significantly improve the readability of the EBA.

At the conclusion of ANF's last EBA meeting, RHC advised that it would review ANF's proposed amendments and prepare a revised template agreement for ANF's further consideration. ANF expects to receive a revised draft agreement prior to 26th July when the parties are due to meet again. RHC also foreshadowed that it is seeking to raise a number of claims that it wants ANF to consider as part of the settlement of these negotiations. These claims were not received at the time of preparing this update.

ANF intends to arrange a statewide meeting for ANF Job Representatives in coming weeks to report on these negotiations.
