ANF recommends psychiatric nurses vote YES in phone ballot

10 December 2009, 2:49am

All psychiatric nurses are encouraged to vote in a telephone ballot on the final draft of their agreement between Friday 18 December and Thursday 24 December. A copy of the final draft agreement can be accessed on this page.

How to access a copy of the agreement
A copy of the agreement is available through your employer either in your work area, on the health service's intranet or through your human resources, payroll or administration office. Your employer is obliged to provide you with access to the agreement. You can also click here or on the resources box on this page to access the agreement.

How to vote information
Psychiatric nurses will be required to vote either ‘YES' or ‘NO' for the agreement by telephone between 18 to 24 December. Voting instructions, the free call telephone number and frequently asked questions will be mailed to nurses by the returning officer in the week starting 14 December. The ballot is being conducted by an independent company called the Australian Election Company. Your employee or payroll number on your pay slip will be required when you vote, but your vote will be confidential.

ANF recommends nurses vote ‘YES'
This varied and extended agreement contains all the wage increases, new entry points, new increment, new and changed conditions (telephone allowance, childcare expenses, on call arrangements, parental leave, long service leave, emergency services leave, salary sacrifice to defined benefit funds, on call preceding a rostered day off or day off, clarification of annual leave for part-time registered psychiatric nurses and workload matters (high dependency units and community positions) and improved consultation arrangements agreed to in 2007. It also contains a new and improved disputes settling clause, personal/carers leave clause, nurse practitioner provisions and maintains the RPN 4 and 5 positions from the 2000 - 2004 agreement.

The ballot is a requirement of Fair Work Australia. ANF will advise members of the outcome of the ballot and the application to Fair Work Australia for approval of the agreement in 2010.
