2012 Professional Issues in Practice Conference: The Future is now

'The Future is Now' conference includes 50 speakers examining contemporary professional and clinical issues in nursing, midwifery, mental health and aged care. In addition the conference incorporates occupational violence and no lifting streams.

Attending both days of the conference gives you up to 70% of the CPD hours you need to maintain your registration.

The conference also incorporates the 10th Biennial National Enrolled Nurses Association (NENA) Conference and a dedicated stream for enrolled nursing.

Unlike many of the nursing and midwifery conferences on offer we have deliberately absorbed many of the costs either through the ANF's resources or through sponsorship, enabling us to offer you a two-day program starting at $275 in keeping with our commitment of quality and affordable education for our members.

We expect demand to be high so encourage you to register as soon as possible, which you can do so by clicking here.

The aim of the conference is to provide participants with a program covering a range of contemporary issues relevant to their practice. Our presenters are drawn from health care, research and academic environments.

An excellent line up of speakers will explore a wide variety of topics. Day one sessions include learning from our nursing and midwifery history to influence current practice, skill mix and ratios, what's required for the health workforce in the years ahead, what the coroner expects from you in light of emerging trends and what the Chief Commonwealth Nursing and Midwifery Officer is proposing in terms of health reform.

Day two deals with the controversial issues of voluntary euthanasia presented by Dr. Philip Nitschke followed by local, national and international perspectives on respecting patient end of life choices.

Both days have concurrent sessions specific to enrolled nursing, midwifery, aged care, OHS, maternal and child health nursing, critical care nursing, mental health and paediatric nursing. There are also sessions on the audit process as well as sessions on ethics, rural health, pain management and medication.

A significant part of the program is the inclusion an occupational violence stream (previously the ANF Stop the Violence Conference) of the safe patient handling stream and an exhibition of contemporary equipment. In previous years you will remember this was covered as the ANF No Lifting Conference and Expo.

A detailed program can be downloaded by clicking here  or in the box to the right.

You can choose to register online and access the discounted online registration fee or for full fee paying registration fill in the registration form in the conference brochure which has been inserted into June On the Record or available online.

We expect the conference will be very popular and will fill quickly.  Numbers are restricted so once maximum capacity is reached, registrations will close.
