Over recent years the number of practice nurses around Australia has grown signifi cantly and the numbers are set to boom with additional funding from the Australian Government.
But while numbers have grown, wages haven't, with many nurses stuck well below acute sector rates. The ANF has found it difficult to negotiate enterprise agreements and APNA has noticed with concern that their annual survey of practice nurse wages indicates that increases are only modest. Many nurses don't get increases at all. With the move to modern awards under the Fair Work Act many general practices are asking practice nurses to sign new contracts of employment which seek to absorb long held entitlements.
However, the Fair Work Act also provides other opportunities to obtain a collective agreement for the whole sector.
So join us to find out how your wages and conditions are currently set and how, together, we might win a better deal for practice nurses.
