The new national workplace relations system commenced, in part, on 1 July 2009, with the remainder effective from 1 January 2010. There are significant changes that will affect all employees in nursing and midwifery.
The six hour information seminars will cover the following aspects of the new laws:

The new National Employment Standard that applies to all employees;

Unfair dismissal laws, including how networks, hospitals and aged care facilities must comply;

New arrangements for enterprise bargaining;

Application of modern awards in the our industry;

Understanding the new structures of Fair Work Australia and the Fair Work Ombudsman; and
-
Impacts of industrial relations referral of powers by State Governments.
The FREE seminars will be presented by Australian Nursing Federation (Victorian Branch) Assistant Secretary Paul Gilbert and will provide an opportunity to consider the workplace relations changes in an industry specific setting.

Job Reps in Regional Victoria should note that these training sessions coincide with the ANF Annual Regional Seminars. The Regional Seminar will commence at the conclusion of the Fair Work Seminar (3pm). Job Reps attending the Regional Seminar (where eligible) can opt to utilise the one night's accommodation for the Regional seminar when their work place is 70kms or more from regional venue as per ANF policy You can choose to have accommodation on the night before or the night of seminar.
For Melbourne seminars, no accommodation is available as it is expected that regional reps will attend the seminar at a venue closest to your work place.
Travel subsidies as per ANF policy is available to both Melbourne and Regional Job Reps.
